Our Love Story
About Us
How did you meet?
Long-distance dating isn't for the faint of heart. The drive from Casper, Wyoming, to Provo, Utah, spans 422 miles and takes 6.5 hours in good weather, sometimes twice that in the winter. But we met on a dating app, and we (mostly Jeremiah) were crazy enough to keep seeing where this would take us.
Who asked whom out?
Jeremiah: I am a manly man! I asked her on a couple dates!
Kylie: Him, with a bit of encouragement :)
What was your favorite date?
Jeremiah: My favorite date was when we went bowling. I felt like we were able to relax and be ourselves. She was funny and genuine. That inspired me to take her to Penguin Brothers for ice cream across the street. It was there that I felt we really connected. She showed me how fun and nerdy she was. We talked about all the little things in life that we liked.
Kylie: Hiking up Casper Mountain in the snow, looking out on the valley, and feeling peaceful and close together.
What do you like about each other?
Jeremiah: She cares about my health.
Kylie: I appreciate the way he looks out for the people and animals around him.
What was your favorite family activity?
Jeremiah: The zoo was one of the first family outings we did with the kids. It was the first time I was able to see them interact with each other and to see how caring they were. I remember walking around with them and seeing elephants, seals, primates, and a dog show. As we were leaving, we worked together to spin the stone globe fountain before heading to dinner together where I tried Ethiopian food for the first time.
Kylie: Spending the day together at Cross-E Ranch. We ate caramel apples, went down a giant slide, didn’t really get lost in a corn maze, chose pumpkins from a patch. Ruby tripped and got hurt, which was sad, but Jeremiah carried the pumpkins, and we got cinnamon doughnuts instead of leaving, even though it was dark. I love that we were able to turn that moment around and work together to end the night on a high note. My kids fell asleep in the car, and it felt authentic to spend that time together as a family.
What's your favorite activity to do together?
Jeremiah: Cuddling and movie night. It makes me feel like I'm home.
Kylie: Trying new things: food, activities.
What is something you enjoy doing for your partner?
Jeremiah: I enjoy giving her a back massage and working out all the knots she puts into it so I have more reasons to touch her.
Kylie: Helping him feel cared about and listened to.
How many more pets can you fit in your house?
Jeremiah: As many as she can call with her Disney princess powers.
Kylie: 0
How did he propose?
Jeremiah kept pretending that they were already engaged. He kept asking Kylie about wedding details and what their kids would be like. She would always tell him that he was missing a few steps. Finally Jeremiah found a ring he was sure she’d love. Waiting for it to be delivered, he couldn't help but spill the beans, telling her he was going to take her back to the restaurant of their first date! But Kylie wanted it to be a surprise. So Jeremiah came up with the perfect proposal. He found a leather-bound journal and wrote inside that the journal would be a place to keep all of their good memories together. Then in the middle of the book, he cut out a small, hidden section and placed the ring inside, writing a second inscription detailing his love and hopes for the future. Kylie loved the book, the ring, and the surprise of it all and said, “Yes.” Their first-date recreation felt fun, sweet, and memorable.
